I was given this book by the author for an honest review. I love a good witch story, and this book didn't disappoint. It's a face paced read, and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I can't say that I loved or related to the main character Finn, but I did like that she stayed strong through it all. The relationship with Finn and Eamon wasn't instant, and that was a plus. I loved that they were annoyed with each other throughout most of the book. All the the things that Finn discovered about her life, and where she comes from, was well written. I loved the dream sequences and how they helped bring it all to light. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, and I recommend giving A Lost Legacy: Awakening a read.Tags : Amazon.com: A Lost Legacy: Awakening (Lost Legacies) (Volume 1) (9780993870101): C.E Dimond: Books,C.E Dimond,A Lost Legacy: Awakening (Lost Legacies) (Volume 1),Write Addictions,0993870104,Fantasy & Magic,Fiction - Fantasy,JUVENILE FICTION Paranormal, Occult & Supernatural,Juvenile Fiction Fantasy & Magic,Juvenile FictionParanormal, Occult & Supernatural,Paranormal,Young Adult; Fantasy; Urban Fantasy; Magic; Witches; Supernatural,Juvenile Fiction Fairy Tales & Folklore General

When her mother goes missing, Finn soon discovers that she is a witch and she is being hunted for her power. Ripped from the only life she’s ever known, Finn is transported across the country to Broadhaven, Maine to discover the secrets she never knew about herself, her heritage, and the tremendous power that’s been kept from her for so long. Her loyalties are tested when she learns of her true parentage and discovers she is part of a prophecy, destined to awaken an ancient power that has been lost for centuries. As she struggles to learn from her mother’s past, she is faced with the ultimate struggle of good and evil, family or friends, she must learn who she can trust and find the power within herself to stop the prophecy from coming true.
This YA Fantasy story is a journey of witches and magic. Can Finn navigate her way through paranormal and faerie life before it’s too late?
A Lost Legacy Awakening by C. E. Diamond is the story of Finn, a once normal girl that is suddenly uprooted from her mundane life and tossed into the world of warring witches, good and evil and long lost royalty. As the first book in the A Lost Legacy series, one would expect for this book to lay down the foundation for the series and set up not only a basic knowledge of what is going on but also set up the questions that future books will answer and it does, sort of. There are a few holes in the plot that I am still confused about, but it did a decent job of setting it up so I didn’t have too much trouble following.
I have to admit, I was originally intrigued by the book because I am a total sucker for the ‘normal girl finds out she is actually a total BA’ style YA books. While I did enjoy this book and am looking forward to the next one, I am a bit disappointed and was hoping for more development and detail. We find out that Finn is not your average girl, she is in fact someone very unique and special, perhaps one of the most powerful witches ever born but has been hidden away from her magic and the only real family she has. Awesome, now we get to see the cool training and get to follow her as she blows up stuff and kicks total butt right? Not really. The book is lacking a lot of the cool descriptive details you want to see and feel when watching your heroine grow. It touches on her training etc but we don’t really get to experience anything with her.
So this mysterious stranger that has entered town and began the abrupt upheaval of Finn’s normal life, who is he? Well, unfortunately this is another area that I really was hoping for more..well everything. Eamon is his name, and brooding is his game. Well, sort of. One thing that I always enjoy is the electricity that is built up between two people, even if they hate each other, that undeniable pull that sucks me in and keeps me fueled ( even if it gets boring, repetitive or just drags on), is my favorite part. It really didn’t exist in this book. Our tall, dark and handsome really isn’t built up as a swoon worthy object of affection. He is just there. The romantic aspect of their relationship felt bland. I am intrigued by the plot and I want to know if something does develop between them but it isn’t because of their dynamic. It is because I enjoyed the heroine and her spirit.
There are a lot of questions that aren’t really answered in this book. Most of it actually is sort of given basic acknowledgment but not fully explored. At risk of divulging too much, I won’t list all the questions I still have. Just know, even though this book does a decent job of explaining some things, it skims over a lot of them. But in it’s defense it is part of a series so they very well may be answered at a later time.
Despite the things that I wanted and didn’t get ( I am a needy reader can’t you tell?) I did read this book easily and I am looking forward to the next one. I didn’t get super involved so I am not cliffhangry and won’t be stressing until it is released.
Disclaimer I obtained a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. Thank you C.E. Dimond and Write Addictions.
I really liked this story. I stumbled across it in my search for a new book and managed to read it quickly. I love a book that I can breeze through that keeps me intrigued and entertained throughout the course of the story. This was certainly one of those stories. After looking into the author I found this is a first time novelist! Solid effort, though there are small details that probably could have make this story even greater. The end of the book left me demanding to know what happens next! I hope to get my hands on the next book in this series soon!
The story is a young adult novel which is clear as the main characters of the book range from about 15-18 years old, but it doesn't entirely focus on typical teenage plights. While these are definitely woven in throughout the story, it's a unique complex idea that focuses a lot on mythology and history tied in with the modern world.
These teenagers are struggling to be every day kids who carry a centuries old magical tradition on their shoulders. They want to live life, but they also want to keep their family legacies alive for generations to come. I love the way the families in this tale all have to work together, each one specializing in a different form of historic preservation.
